March 1985
The National
theatre Workshop was held in the township of FCO (Kalol) Kasturinagar,
North Gujrat. Selected 50 actors / Directors participated in the workshop.
Mr. Nalin Patel, the then Minister of State, Government of Gujrat announced
the formal inauguration of National Institute of Performing Arts at that
time.
August 1985
The International
Amateur Theatre Association was requested to give membership to the infant
organisation i.e. National Institute of Performing Arts as their National
Center in India.
February,
1987
International
Amateur Theatre Association accepted NIPA as their National Center for
India.
February,
1989
The First
International Theatre Festival popularly known as India Theatre Olympiad
was held in Chandigarh. Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Late Mr. Rajiv
Gandhi gave his blessings by receiving the delegates of all the countries
at his residence on 13th February, 1989, Groups from Japan, Belgium, Iceland,
England, South Korea and Bulgaria besides Indian groups participated in
the festival.
It was followed
by two days performance in New Delhi in collaboration with Sahitya Kala
Parishad. Delhi Administration on 21-22 February, 1989. His Excellency,
the Ambassador of Japan to India was the distinguished Guest.
February,
1989
National Institute
of Performing Arts was formally registered as "TRUST" at Ahmedabad.
November
1991
The Second
India Theatre Olympiad was held from 15-21 November 1991 at New Delhi.
Groups from Germany, United Kingdom, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Finland
besides Indian groups in seven days festival at Mavalankar Hall, Air-force
Auditorium, New Delhi. Shri Shivraj Patil, the then speaker Lok Sabha was
the chief Guest who inaugurated the Theatre Olympiad.
November
1993
The Third
India Theatre Olympiad was held from 22-28 November 1993 at New Delhi,
Groups from Spain, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Czech Republic,
Malaysia, Finland and India participated in the Festival. Shir Pranab Mukherjee,
the then Honb'nble Minister of Commerce, Government of India inaugurated
the Olympiad. Shir Vasant Sathe, the then Chairman, ICCR presided over
the inaugural function.
October,
1995
NIPA &
ASHMITA organised the performance of an Indian play by Artists of Theatre
Fiasco of Finland and Indian Artists In Finish as well as Hindi languages.
His Excellency the Ambassador of Finland in India and Shri Vasant Sathe,
the then Chairman ICCR, were the distinguished guests.
November,
1996
Fourth India
Theatre Olympiad was held in Cuttack, Orissa in association with Utkal
Sanskrutik Sangh from 24-30 November, 1996. Groups from Greece, Nepal,
Sri Lanka, Italy, Bangladesh, Japan and Finland besides nymber of Indian
groups participated in the festival. It was inaugurated by Mr. Justice
S. P. Phukan the then Chief Justice, High Court of Orissa.
November,
1997
The First
International Children's Theatre Festival was organised at New Delhi from
14-19 November, 1997. Groups from Australia, Bangladesh, Finland, Uzbekistan,
Russia, Orissa, Delhi Participated in the festival. It was inaugurated
by Mr. Justice V. Balakrishna Eradi, former Judgem Supreme Court of India,
A few Children goups performed in some schools also.
November,
1999
NIPA was registered
as Society on 18 February 1999 at New Delhi.
March, 1999
Goups from
Jorhat and Tezpru (Assam) perfomed Childrens plays at New Delhi.
November,
1999
The Third
International Children's Festival was organised from 14-19 November 1999
at New Delhi. It was inaugurated by Shri Omesh Saigal, IAS, Chief Secretary,
Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. Groups from Finland,
Croatia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur,
Assam, Kerala and Delhi participated in the festival. As usual, a some
groups went to Delhi schools also.
January, 2000
National Children's
theatre Festival was held from 24-25 January, 2000 at New Delhi and from
31st January to 1st February, 2000 at Cuttack (Orissa). Children groups
from Manipru, Meghalay and Nagaland performed their plays. It was supported
by Minsitery of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Fourth International

theatre Festival was held from 29 - 30 January, 2001 at New Delhi.Groups
from Cuttack ,Assam & Tripura
participated
in it.

Ist theatre
festival of all seven North East states of india was organized at Shillong
(Meghalay) from 19 - 22, May 2001.
November,
2001
The Fifth International Children's Theatre Festival was organised
from 15th to 19th November 2001 at New Delhi. The festival was inaugurated by Mr. A.K. Rath, I.A.S. on 15th November, 2001. On the closing day, Mr. Justice Rangnath Misra, MP, Former Chief Justice of India & First Chairman, National Human Rights Commission presided over the function and gave the valedictory address. During the festival foreign groups from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Indian Groups from Assam, Orissa and Delhi participated.
Besides these performance some foreign groups were invited to perform in schools of Delhi.
January,
2002
Third National Theatre Festival was held
in the last week of January 2002. Children's from Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland performed their plays.
Groups from Chandigarh and New Delhi also performed their plays in order to
have good interaction. The children from North-Eastern States, Jaipur, Ajmer and
Udaipur. At Delhi they had interactive sessions in this senior officials of
Rajya Sabha Secretariat and Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India besides
visiting important places.
June,
2002
The 2nd Children's Theatre Festival of all North-Eastern States was held at Dimapur (Nagaland) from 22 - 25 June 2002.
It was supported by Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
November,
2002
The Sixth International Children's Festival was held at New Delhi from 14 - 19 November. The Festival was inaugrated by Mr. Justice Rangnath Misra, MP. Former Chief Justice of India and First Chairman, National Human Rights Commissssion.
February,
2003
First National Theatre Festival was organised at Tezpur, Assam when groups from Arunachal Pradesh,Assam, Manipur, West Bengal, New Delhi and Maharashtra participated.
